Living in “Kazusa Forest” and the creator of “Mellow The Japanese Squirrel®.” The author of a photo essay “Mellow the Japanese Squirre™ The Story of Kazusa Forest in Karuizawa”(『Nihonrisu no Mellow Karuizawa Kazusa no Mori no Monogatgari』).
My autonym is Sachiko Ito. I spent my schooldays in Osaka because of my father’s work. Graduated from Department of Literature, English Language & Literature Department, Kwansei Gakuin University. After retirement from work at the foreign capital airline company, I engaged in technical translation work. Afterward, I embarked on writing novels or essays and so on. The cause of it was the death of my beloved dog Sheeta.
There are a lot of works including the first book “The Etude with Sheeta”(『Sheeta tono Echudo』), “A Dog Whose Life Shines”(『Inochi Kagayakeru Inu』), “The Forest in Mind”(『Kokoro no Naka no Mori』) which won New Writer Award under the 90th Cosmos Prize for Literature (full-length novels class), “Fairy-Tale”(『Ｏｔｏｇｉｚｏｓｈｉ』), 『Hana no Hanran』, 『Ocho Fujin』, 『Utakata no Padudu』, 『Kurisumasu no Tenshi』, “The Stardust in The Mist”(『Kiri no Naka no Hoshikuzu』), and so on.
I moved from Tokyo to Karuizawa in September, 2012. I met Japanese Squirrels and started taking photos. I published “Mellow the Japanese Squirre™ The Story of Kazusa Forest in Karuizawa”(『Nihonrisu no Mellow Karuizawa Kazusa no Mori no Monogatgari』) with these photos and essay based on the true story.
I passionately love forests and play active roles in writing activities concerning Japanese Squirrels and forests. I set up KRP (Karuizawa Nihonrisunomori Project) but retired from it in September, 2015. Now I am the representative of “Mellow The Japanese Squirrel™ The Project from Karuizawa.”
